Your feet are the hardest working part of your body and they deserve special treatment. Day after day they suffer because of high heels or tight shoes, so is not surprising that they develop calluses and pain.
Rather than waiting for a spa gift card, why not pamper your tired feet with a home spa pedicure? Follow these steps to rejuvenate your feet.
Remove all old polish with acetone. Pour hot water in a foot bath, along with liquid soap, bath salts or your own salt mixture made by 1/2 cup of Epsom salt and 1/4 cup of borax. Add some scented oil if you prefer. Make sure you have at hand some towels. Soak as long as you want, but no less than 5 minutes. File your feet calluses with a resistant file, removing all the dead cells.
Take one foot out of the tub and let it dry. File your toenails straight across, but slightly around the corners. Use a nail clipper, if necessary. Apply cuticle remover and massage your toenails. Use a stick to gently push the cuticle. Remove any loose cuticle with the scissors. Put your foot in the water and repeat the process with the other foot. Rub both feet with a nail brush. Apply a foot scrub made of 3/4 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of cream, 1 tablespoon of real butter, 1 tablespoon of sea salt and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Rub each foot for 3 minutes. Put the foot again in water. Apply a commercial mask, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Use a cloth to remove all traces of the mask. Massage your feet with baby oil or olive oil and place them back in the water.
Remove one foot from the water and dry it with a towel. Massage your calf using long strokes with one hand while holding the other ankle. Massage your foot starting with the heel. Squeeze the heel using your thumb and your index finger. Wrap the foot with a towel. Repeat with the other foot.
Spray both feet with clean warm water, rinse and dry. Use a cotton ball and acetone to remove all oils from the toenails. Apply toe separators or cotton balls between the toes. For further treatment, apply 100% Shea butter, massage your feet, wrap in food wrap and cover with a sock. Leave it overnight.
